Holly Morris: Why stay in Chernobyl? Because itīs home.
The text in the worksheet is a transcript of a ted.com speech (available fully and easily on the Internet with subtitles and transcipt, link in the worksheet)given by Holly Morris , an explorer and a TV correspondent. She is talking about her visit to Chernobyl due to the 25th anniversary of the nuclear accident and about her personal discovery of an unlikely community inhabiting the contaminated region. The text is divided into two seperate exercises: filling the gaps with the words which can be found beneath two first paragraphs and choosing appropriate fragments which have been removed from the text. The more difficult words in the whole text are bolded. The worksheet can also be done without listening to the speech, as a reading exercise.
