My promise tree
This sheet is intended to be worked at the beginning of the school year, ideally. Each student fills in the sheet with their name and what they promise to do during the year, i.e:
-speak in English all the time
-do the homework
-help classmates
-listen to the teacher
-behave well
-...
and also with what they´d like to obtain from the teacher:
-watch a film last day of class
-listen to some song
-play a game
-...
This bit should be something that they enjoy but not a bribe like candy or a good grade.
They then color the tree and the leaves. The trees are then hung around the class, either above where each student sits, or on a wall. Each time a kid doesn´t follow what he promised the teacher points at their poster, as a reminder. They get the first warning, which is pointing at the poster (you don´t even have to say anything else, it usually is good enough). If the behavior doesn´t improve then they get a second warning, orally, and they are reminded that the third warning is final.
If you need to tell them off three times, a leave is crossed off. By the end of the school year (or term, depending how strict you want to be), if the students still have leaves left they will get their reward, if they lost all leaves they will not get what they asked for. Naughty students should not participate in the other students´ rewards either.
