Wright Brothers listening worksheets with answers
Two worksheets to accompany the Radiolab podcast about the Wright Brothers http://www.radiolab.org/story/91749-the-wright-brothers/
The first worksheet includes open questions for higher levels, while the 2nd is multiple choice. Both challenge learners to listen for specific information in an authentic listening context.
Intro/Warmer: Students discuss the most important technological inventions of the 20th century
Activate Schemata: Ask them what they know about the first airplane (pre-teach the names Orville and Wilbur Wright, and possibly the date of the first flight)
Gist Listening: How many people do you hear speaking? How do they feel about it? (helps train listeners for tone and changes in voice)
Specific Listening: Worksheet (you will probably need to play it a few times)
As this is a challenging listening, I usually follow it up with something fun, such as making paper airplanes or inventing their own technology.
