Quiz Show with Comparatives & Superlatives
On the board, draw 2 rectangles divided in 12 parts. Each rectangle belongs to a group.Divide the class in two groups. There are 2 quiz columns of 15 questions each with comparatives and superlatives mixed up and each group has to answer each set of questions. They donīt have access to the quiz list, only the teacher.Use a die of 12 faces to sort the questions out. Set a time limit of 20 to 30 seconds for each answer. For each correct answer, check one of the 12 parts in the correspondent rectangle on the board. The three remaining questions in each set are used for "Sudden Death", in case the two groups are even.
Another way of using this activity is preparing each set of 15 questions on 2 separate sheets of paper ( sheet A and B)and separating the sudents in pairs. Give each student a sheet so that each pair has a sheet A and a B and they are to ask each other the questions and mark on their respective sheets the correct answers from his/her partner(in this case, the sheet must contain the answer for that question). In general, they love the dispute!I always use this activity and it is a big success among my students!
