Saint Patrick´s Day Battleship Game - I wish ... - Speaking Activity
Instructions:
1. Go over the language point with the students. (I wish I could + verb, e.g. I wish I could run fast; I wish I were + adjective, e.g. I wish I were tidy; I wish I had + noun, e.g. I wish I had a pet)
2. Divide students into pairs.
3. Give each student a worksheet and 3 (or more)pieces of paper that have leprechauns printed on them (to be used as game pieces).
4. Have students hide their worksheets from each other and place their 3 leprechauns on any square they choose.
5. Have student take turns choosing a square from the worksheet and making a sentence using the language point. E.g. “I wish I had a dog”. If their partner has put a leprechaun on the ‘dog’ square then they must hand over that leprechaun.
6. The first person to collect all their partners’ leprechauns has won the game.
NOTE: I will try to upload the leprechaun game pieces I used but since they don´t have any other information, they are just pictures, they may be flagged and removed according to the site rules.
