Before doing this song activity I ask the students to write where they think they will be in 10, 15 or 30 years from now. I basically tell them to write out a plan for their lives...using the going to form of the future. it is also important to explain that in spoken English, particularly in American spoken English, we often pronounce ´going to´ as ´gonna.´ Tim McGraw is an American country singer from the south so his accent is pretty strong. My students have always loved this exercise...and I love Tim McGraw so it works out great!
