Related to the thematic area of ‘Natural Disasters’. This being ´Storms´. In order to personalise the context relative to students´ own. Utilise modern music that students can relate to revisit what still remains USA´s worst ever natural disaster when between 6,000 to 8,000 people lost their lives. Simple listening task, preceded by prediction / guessing likely choice from context / rhyme etc. Use YouTube video as resource to show some background to the event as well as more recent footage of severe storms hitting the city of Galveston in 21st Century. Also YouTube can be used as source of audio and song by visiting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emP4cN_V03A. Get students to ´rate´ their interest in the song 1-10.
