Smartphone privacy
As smartphones become more and more indispensible in our lives, our privacy suffers, because the apps we download, many times for free, request access to information that is often not at all related to the task the app is supposed to perform. This reading activity starts with a warm up conversation about apps and smartphone privacy issues, and then moves on to a text adapted from the forbes.com website with tips to protect our privacy. There are two tasks the students have to do; one is matching the headings to the corresponding tips, and the other is a vocabulary-building exercise with words from the text. It takes 30-45 minutes of class time.
