In English we call it Super Mario
In Japan the names of the enemy character in the Super Mario video game series are usually very diffrent than their English counterparts. In this game ask your students to guess the name of the of the Mario characters based on the list of English names (write the names on the chalkboard). For example, the character that throwing a wrench the students might guess that character is called "Rocky Wrench". You can give a brief description as to how the character´s name fits them. I had students use the target sentence, "In Japanese (in this case your students native tongue) we call it ____, in English we call it ____" Great for discussion or it can be used as a quiz show.
