Compound words are words which are created from two words that, when joined together, create a new word. Learning about compound words , especially through word matching games, is fun and it provides students a new way of looking at words. Studying compound words helps kids understand the language, since it helps pupils grasp language structure and builds an interest in words and will help prepare students to increase their interest in words especially prefixes, suffixes and word roots. In addition to this, this worksheet can be taken as a preliminary step to a broader lesson about compound words including categories of Hyphenated form (such as” daughter-in-law”) and open form (such as” full moon”)
