Animal dice game
To play you will need a set of animal cards (there are some on this site that can be downloaded).
Cut out, laminate and make the dice.
Rules:
Using a set of animal cards, deal them out to the students (ideally 2-6 players). Roll the dice before each turn to decide the category, for example ‘fast’. Students then turn their top card over calling out the animal name. The animal that is the ‘fastest’ is the winner and wins the other players cards from that round. If there is any doubt then students have to vote, encouraging language such as ‘i think it is the ….. because…’ . even at a very low / young level the game can be played teaching the vocabulary words on the dice and animal names.
