The past simple Versus the Present Perfect
Students study situations where they have to use either the past simple or the present perfect. Generally speaking, the past is used for actions that took place in a definite point of time in the past, and this is why our focus is on when the action took place. The present perfect, on the other hand, is used for actions who time is not definite, and this is why our focus is mainly on the WHAT (the action itself).
