Question Tag Intonation Exercise
This sheet is to be used with the tracks that can be downloaded from the link below (copy and paste into the browser). Explain the rules about rising and falling intonation, remembering that the rules are only a rough guide and vary according to regional dialects and accents, and then practise a little by giving them some examples. Hand out the worksheets and play the tracks one at a time while the students listen and indicate A, B or C for the answer. When you have played them all and given the answers, get the students to say each line to mean each meaning.
Thank you to Jayho, Jannabanna and Redcamarocruiser for doing the recordings.
