Speaking practice.Giving direction
The two activities bring such a good time in speaking lessons. The students do enjoy practice speaking in that way. You can improve by setting some bonus and penalty rules at the beginning.
For the 1st activity, the key thing you need to do is give the Ss some sense of using the map (listening and speaking). They can reproduce the language of giving directions and help themselves with this skill in survival English.
For the 2nd activity, you can see how creative the students are when they make the maps. Remember to set time (I didnīt include in the lesson plan coz you may adapt based on your class features) for drawing activity. It may last for 10-15 minutes (coloring time included). Afterwards, you may ask the students to have cross-practice by swapping the maps or you can involve in the lesson (making sample to help weak(er) Ss).
Hope you enjoy the lesson plan and I look forward to your comments.
Thanks
