assign your classmate"s name for the character trait - get to know your students
A get-to -know your teenager group game which you could use either in the first days (but they should know each other well already) or later in the course. It can be used with adults too maybe who work together and know each other´s personality. It´s very simple. Just cut out the traits, give one or two to everyone. They should write one of their classmate´s name on it. They take turns reading out their adjectives. They say who they chose and why. Eg.: I chose "video game nerd" for Victor cause he is addicted to computer games and he always plays them". They will crack jokes about each other but it will enhance a positive group dynamics and you will get to know them better. You can first make the class guess who that character trait will be to enhance interest. Lots of conversation and vocabulary teaching can arise from this personalized activity. From elementary to advanced. Feel free to change the adjectives suited to your needs.
