Manners at school- reading, speaking and writing an essay
Iīve used this with my ESL pre-intermediate and intermediate students to raise awareness of manners at school. We all read and discussed the article, checked any unfamiliar words. Then I asked them to think about their own manners. I explained what an essay was (it was their first essay), read through the plan and asked them to make a table with their good and bad manners at school. Then, we looked at an essay structure and they did the writing task. They made a first draft, checked it and then improved it.We did this during 3 classes: first we just read and discussed it; 2nd class- teach the essay structure + brainstorm ideas+ first draft; 3rd class- final piece of writing and sharing it with the class.
