ONCE UPON A TIME ---- GROUP ACTIVITY WRITING FAIRYTALES
I teach adults in Beijing. I try to put as many things as possible into a familiar frame of reference for my students. I also try to use as many FREE things as I can. SO - I use A LOT of pictures from newspapers and magazines. Tons. For this lesson, you will need to gather around 75 random pictures from newspapers and magazines. I have my Go-To pack of pictures that I use for dozens of different kinds of lessons. About 125, laminated, and I have used them for over 3 years now. Do yourself a huge favor. Build a picture packet! I write curriculum for other schools, so I always try to test things before rolling them out. The only challenge I found with this one is that some students lack the vocabulary about heroes and such. You may need to introduce a few things. But other than that, for the actual activity, it worked very well. The board organization comes in handy, and I noticed students referring to it during their teamwork time to build their stories.
I hope you enjoy it! I had a lot of fun with the group that used it last. They did a really good job and came up with some wonderfully interesting stories.
