Dream Interpretation Conversation Activity
This is a simple information gap activity that acts like a find someone who role play. It uses dreams and their interpretations to get students talking.
Give students an interpretation card
Ss read and ask questions about vocab.
Explain activity.
Give ss interpretations sheet
Discuss vocab with ss on sheet
Have ss make up dream stories for each dream in their minds
What was happening?
What did you see, feel, smell,
taste?
How did you feel about what was.
happening
Have ss write their own interpretations for the card you gave them. Make sure they match the interpretation to the story, e.g. not just a general interpretation about cars but something about a powerful woman seeking out a good relationship with them because the cat, which represent feminine power, is speaking kindly to a mouse, which it usually chases.
Have students talk to their partner first, trading dream stories and interpreting their dreams according to their cards.
Then have them switch partners again.
WARNING: be sure they only interpret the dreams that they got a card for. Also, that they only tell the dream story of the dream that their partner can interpret from their card.
Give them 5 minutes each pair until they have completed their entire sheet.
Should take 1-2 hours.
