Past Continuous Snakes and Ladders
1. Play the board game in groups of 3. Students can use pen caps or erasers
as game markers and a bottle cap as a
die: label side=2 squares, bottom side=1 square.
2. Write the rules on the board
• Players must complete the sentence with the correct verb form.
Example: I was cooking lunch when I saw a spider.
• If a player lands at the bottom of a ladder, they immediately go up.
• If they land at a snake’s head, they immediately go down.
• If a student says the sentence incorrectly, they must go back to their original square.
3. Play continues until someone reaches the finish square or class time runs out.
