Letter Recognition and Formation Practice - What´s the difference between ´Bb´ and ´Dd´ ? (Two Pages)
I have a couple of pupils who are new to the Alphabet and English Letter Sounds and they really seem to struggle with the difference between ´B´ and ´D´, also ´H´ and ´N´ which I will post later. This is an activity where by the children will learn some basic vocabulary and consolidate the sound and letter formation of ´Bb´ and ´Dd´. Cut out the cards on the first sheet and begin by playing pairs to introduce and practice the vocabulary being used. When children are confident with the vocabulary, start to get them to identify the first sound, is it ´B´ or ´D´, use the second sheet to sort them out. The second page has a copy of the Jolly Phonics action on it for that sound to remind children of the difference. When the children are happy with their choices they can practice writing the letters ´b´ and ´d´ and then stick on the pictures in the correct box. There is a ´Letter and Sounds´ pupil fan for you to cut out and attach together with a split pin to make a fan that pupils can easily flick through for practicing the Jolly Phonics actions with. You can get it on the following link,
