What you observe is the first half of a PPP (presentation, practice and production) class the objective of which is to teach learners to construct WH- questions in Past Simple. You ask your students to connect the question words with "DID" and the auxiliary verb with the subject as shown on the worksheet so that the students can memorize the place of "DID". After analyzing the examples (each example takes in cells of the same colour), the students come up with their own three instances. The teacher then asks them concept checking questions and gets them to do some practice. THE PRODUCTION STAGE IS TO BE WORKED OUT BY YOU :) Thanx!
