Welcome to
ESL Printables,
the website where English Language teachers exchange resources:
worksheets, lesson plans, activities, etc.
Our collection is growing every day with the help of many teachers. If
you want to download you have to send your own contributions.
This is a game to work on the past continuous and the past simple.
You have to print and cut out all the alibis. Each student picks one. You announce that you are a policewoman/man and that someone killed the english teacher. You ask the question to the first student : " What were you doing when somebody killed the english teacher?" The student has to put his alibi in the past continous tense. He then turns into the policman/woman and asks the question to the next student. At the end, the teacher gives away two clues ( eg : the library is closed on tuesday) and the students have to guess the culprits. In order to do so they have to memorize the other students´ alibis.
