I shot the Sheriff
This is a song worksheet with a slightly different approach to working on songs in the classroom.
Procedure is at the end of the worksheet .
An interesting song for many reasons:
- Tackles the issue of civil rights from another perspective: in the USA as in Jamaica, the police unfortunately often colluded with local power (cf Mississippi Burning).
-I shot the Sheriff as a song denouncing unfair law and order.
Some may consider it shocking, but this is still an absolute classic, so...See for yourself!
- Past tense with affirmative vs negative sentences
- Basic vocabulary of crime and punishment
