Past continuous Connect 4 Pairwork
Explanation
Itfs a pair work activity based on the game, Connect 4.
I like to print the grid on both sides of the paper so they can play multiple times if time permits.
Drill the vocab depicted in the grid. Also make sure the students are confident with saying the time.
The students play paper/scissors/rock to see who starts and then take turns using the target language and the vocab in the grid to make sentences.
PLAYER1 eI was playing basketball at 2 o`clock.f
PLAYER2 eI was studying at 11:05.f
PLAYER1 ec.f
The students should circle the square they chose in a different color to their partner.
The aim of the game is to make your own vertical, horizontal or diagonal line of four consecutive squares.
NOTE: If you want to apply eConnect 4 rulesf, the players have to choose squares from the bottom up. ie. The square for the first turn can only be chosen from the bottom row and you can only move up from there if the square immediately under the square you want to choose is already circled. If this is difficult to understand do an image search of Connect 4
