Fortune Cookie Messages and Chopsticks
Students try their hand at writing their own fortune cookie messages after reading examples, using the future tense.
Expansion: On slips of paper, students write more fortunes, using their imagination / sense of humor. Collect all fortunes, "shuffle" and then divide evenly. Students can then decide which fortunes they like the best, which fortunes need editting for grammar or spelling, etc.
Optional game: students that are proficient at using chopsticks are paired with students that don´t know how to use chopsticks. After reading the instructions and looking at the chopstick diagram, students work together to move message strips - in relay race fashion, to one of two piles at a designated spot in the classroom.
