Survival at Sea
This is a group decision-making activity, which requires cooperation, discussion and thinking skills. Students are divided into groups of 4-6 and given a paper which outlines the following scenario: "You are a crew member on a 35 metre fishing vessel when you run into a raging storm. You are forced to abandon the ship, which is leaking badly from a hole in its side. You and a group of other crew members must choose which ten items you should take with you." (17 items are listed) Students must not only choose the items, but prioritize them in order of importance. When sharing the results, each group explains their #1 item and why they chose it.
