Plastic Pollution: Video Listening, Discussion and Research Activity 2
This lesson includes 2 videos with questions to answer and discuss.
The videos are all narrated by Australian presenters, and aimed at Australian school children, so they are lots of fun, not too long, and come with subtitles (= not too difficult, and a good range of levels can cope well). They are often with Australian stats.
My classes love these!
The file size was too big, so I have to split them into separate documents, but
I have grouped them so that the first page (with videos 1 and 2) is about plastic and the sea, and the second page (with videos 3 and 4) is about plastic and packaging etc.
Variations:
-Students could watch and answer just two (or even one) videos, and discuss/check with a partner who watched the same. Then, they could explain what they watched and learned to a new partner/pair who didn’t watch the same videos.
-Students could work in pairs/groups to give a presentation about the video they watched. They could use the questions as a guideline to structure their presentation.
-Students could all answer all videos, and discuss their answers and ideas in pairs, and then with the class.
Best suited for:
School-aged students. Intermediate level and higher.
However, I have used these videos with a range of levels and they all coped very well with them.
Adults can also be interested in being able to talk about these topics, and it gives them great vocabulary.
These videos and discussion questions were all from Behind The News, http://www.abc.net.au/btn/
I just grouped some of the videos together in sets to make a worksheet ☺
Enjoy!
