How I work with it: Sts. watch the Cookie Thief silent short (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vug4_UnfV90), then discuss the story. After that they´re given the verb list, check vocabulary/meaning and discuss how to pronounce the _ed at the end of those words. For more advanced students, I ask them to fill in the gaps as a reading exercise, then check their answers here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oioZqbGEzTQ. Or they could just watch the video and fill in the gaps as they do that.
