Who says Hardy is boring and difficult to read? Listen to the poem read on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s2Cl64zYzA. There is so much feeling (suffering) in a poem meant to show neutrality of a relationship. There is symbolism, pathetic fallacy, metaphors and more. However this worksheet has a copy of the poem, some quotes to match and a thought about the tone and the mood of the poem. How is nature showing the narratorīs feelings? Hardy is a romantic poet who lived during Victorian era.
