3 kinds of pearls
An interesting description of 3 kinds of pearls: natural, cultured and man-made (imitation). THis came about while reading the story Mr. Know All by Somerset Maugham, in class, in which the advent of cultured pearls is mentioned. I created this explanation and brief exercise to make it all clear to my students. It can be a fun lesson regardless of the story, especially in view of the new "lab" diamonds which are now being produced. Easy to use also when distance teaching, on Zoom.
