Six-word stories : in class or online
A fun writing assignment, to be used either in class or online (zoom, etc). We examine the famous 6-word story attributed to Hemingway, and then read several stories which were posted on the internet. What feeling do they leave us with, can we imagine the story behind them? And finally, the students write their own 6-word story. In this case, I asked them to tell me about their summer, but of course any topic is possible. Suitable for all levels, from elementary to high school to adult learners. Awakens a lot of discussion in class.
