Speed Game- Three Verb Tenses
SPEED GAME: I usually take boring textbook tasks and turn it into a speed game.
1) Students are in teams.
2) They quickly complete the task together. (should be a review)
3) All team members raise their hands and I run to them.
4) One by one students take turns reading the answers. I am listening for: the correct answer, correct pronunciation, and correct intonation.
When I hear a mistake, I make a loud buzzer noise, which signals other teams to race to raise their hands.
I am really picky about the pronunciation so all the teams can get a chance to try and answer the questions. If there is a pause I will also make the buzzer sound. When I make the sound, I also give a hint about what kind of mistake they made.
Students enjoy this game. It gets their adrenaline going while they are drilling the target language.
THIS WORKSHEET:
I made it for a low-level class compiled of sports majors, who still arenοΏ½t retaining the formulas for these tenses.
During this activity, I have the sentence formulas (S+V+O.) for each tense on the board, so they can guide themselves.
The worksheet is a .docx file. Change it any way you like.
Enjoy!
