Shakespeare Life, Macbeth, Hamlet Discussion Class
FYI: This along with the videos and powerpoint take an entire class lesson in my experience.
This is the worksheet that I used during my Shakespeare class each year. I pair it with this presentation (http://www.eslprintables.com/powerpoint.asp?id=99390#thetop). I typically start with the presentation, which is a True or False game about William´s life as a warm up then give out this worksheet and play the two videos (linked in both the worksheet and the powerpoint). The videos are easy to follow and the questions just help anchor the students - mine are Spanish so have really never read Shakespeare. After the questions about both videos we get into a discussion about the elements that are the same between plays (eg:magic, dead king, the son of the king doesn´t take the thrown), differences, and different fatal flaws of the characters (I explain what a fatal flaw is before I expect them to answer). On the 3rd page of the printable there are my notes for the discussion that you can feel free to use to guide your chat - or do your own thing. Again, the aforementioned powerpoint is here : http://www.eslprintables.com/powerpoint.asp?id=99390#thetop
