Answer key : The Dolmabahçe Palace, one of the most important structures built between 1843 and 1856, was inspired by European art styles. This palace, one of the most rare structures built during the Ottoman period, was built by Abdülmecid Han. During the Ottoman period, the construction of the Dolmabahçe Palace started in the 19th century with the thought that Topkapi Palace was inadequate for many organizations. This palace, which is a masterpiece, is one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman government´s being influenced by the west. While the Dolmabahçe Palace is a building quality that has witnessed many important events in history, the most important point is that it is the place where Mustafa Kemal died. Dolmabahçe Palace became important because foreign guests were welcomed in the palace during the Atatürk period and the palace was opened out in the art areas.Also Garibab Balyan´s son Nikogos Balyan helped to build the Dolmabahçe Palace. The gates of the palace were built by Nikogos Balyan. At that time, a part of the Sea of Marmara was filled as a result, this place was unearthed and Dolmabahçe was built there.The Balyan family, the architect of the Dolmabahçe Palace, have created a work of mixed European art in the palace architecture. It has 285 rooms, 43 rooms, 600 meters of docks, 6 baths and balconies. The presence of the 1427 windows in the Dolmabahçe palace is the hallmark of how magnificent this palace is. Dolmabahçe Palace has a magnificent view from Kabataş to Beşiktaş. The palace was built on a 250 thousand square meter area and has a residence area of 64120 square meters. According to some sources it is stated that this area is 110 thousand square meters. In this part of the palace there are the theater, mosque, serasker place, treasury and furnishing. In order to enter the Palace, it is first necessary to pass through two great reign gates. Then there are 6 more doors in the palace. There is only 1 elevator in the palace and it is built for Atatürk . For the interior and exterior decorations of the palace, many precious stones, such as water marbles and soma, were taken from the Marmara Islands. Abdulmecid stayed in Dolmabahçe Palace for only 5 years which was built for nearly 5 million gold. Dolmabahçe Palace, one of the most important symbols of the Ottoman period, still maintains its importance today. Although there are traces of Ottoman and European arts in the palace architecture, it is also bearing the traces of many regions that have remained under Ottoman rule. The transportation to the Dolmabahçe Palace, which is located in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, is very easy. The palace is located about 15 minutes walk from Taksim. It is possible to reach the Dolmabahçe Palace by taking many buses, metro and trams to the Beşiktaş district. Dolmabahçe Palace, which is used as a museum today, is a place with a lot of visitors due to its historical value . At this point, it ranks at the top of the places to visit in Istanbul. Having witnessed history and and many historical events having taken place in it have caused the Dolmabahçe Palace to have an important place in our culture.
