The Island
This is my all time favourite conversation activity. Teachers set up the situation as they want. Basically a disaster is going to wipe out all humanity. The governments have gotten together and chosen 13 people to occupy an island in the south pacific which will not be affected by the disaster. However, when the helicopter arrives to take these people to the island, they discover that they rented the small one and only 8 people can fit on the helicopter. Ss decide first indiviually, then in groups, who should stay and who shouldnt and discuss why. Islanders have to a)survive, b)get along, and c)repopulate the planet.
