Great first day get-to-know each other speaking cards. Works with good speakers or with students whose speaking skills are limited. You just need to print and cut and distribute among the students. I have used this with elementary teenagers (and if you slightly alter some of the questions with adults and young learners too).
You can listen in and see who`s got problems with speaking, pronunciation. Works much better than personal interviews. Makes for a nice stress-free, talk right away kind of mingle activity. Play for 15 mins or as long as they like. As a follow up, maybe everybody could write down 2 extra questions on a little piece of paper you provide and thus you can also see what kind of errors they can make.
