"El Chupacabras" reading & discussion
An interesting story from brazil regarding the mysterious cryptid, ´El Chupacabras´. Vocabulary exercises, reading for specific information & related discussion points. Lasts about 1.5 hours for an Upper Intermediate Class. I followed up the exercise with a writing assignment in which the students write a report on an urban myth or piece of folklore from their country of origin. In this written report, I focussed on passives of reporting (for the rampant speculation) and modals of deduction (for the sceptical analysis).
