Planning Permission Role-Play and Reading
Students should read the story and do the vocabulary exercise before or after, depending on how the teacher prefers it. After the students have read the original article, cut out and distribute the personality cards. Then get one of the students to read the role-play scenario and another to read out the proposals. After the students have had one minute to think about how they should debate according to their personality, start the debate. Ideally, each student should have 1 minute each to present their case. This should be followed by an open debate of 10 minutes in length.
Once the debate is over, a show of hands should take place.
WARNING: There is a slightly religious element to the story and role-play. Please be sure that it wonīt cause offence before you proceed.
