CARDVERSATIONS - GREAT SPEAKING ACTIVITY! Rules + Black and white version included!! + blank cards FULLY EDITABLE
FULLY EDITABLE CARDVERSATIONS – RULES
It’s a very useful card game which can make your students talk. They have to use they’re cards to speak. If there are dots, they have to finish the sentences. The ending of a sentence should be grammatically and logically correct. The next student should make a sentence, or pick a card that is in a logical connection with a previous sentence.
The winner is the one who gets rid of his/her cards the quickest.
There are 18 cards with text and 2 blank cards. You can edit the cards, you can add some cards. Divide students into groups. It all depends on the number of cards you decide to make.
- So if you have 18 cards, you can divide students into groups of 3 or into pairs, whichever you prefer.
Each group has a full set of cards and each student gets the same number of cards.
Some cards have a special function :
“I think … (Starter)” - a student with this card starts the game, but of course s/he has to come up with the ending of this sentence.
“ I know. And …(Interrupt)” – cards like this one can be used to interrupt a conversation. Of course with a correct ending created.
“Hmmm, yes. You’re right.(Ender)” – this card tells us that it’s the end of the conversation, so it’s also the end of the game. If a student has this card, he or she can use it to finish the game, but only if s/he got rid of his/her other cards.
This game goes in a clockwise direction. If a student does not have any idea for a sentence, s/he can say “PASS”. Of course, don’t give them too much time to think!
If you want, you can prepare your own list of topics for discussions, or let your students come up wit
their own ideas.
