This story should be read aloud to students. I told the story aloud and showed the students big pictures of the story while telling it to enhance comprehension. Make sure you make gestures, mimics and act out the voices of the characters while you tell the story.I included the script of the story and a worsheet with post story telling activities (past simple). At the end of the class we played the game "Taboo" in two teams with words from the story (Hamelin, rats,river, flute, mayor, village, flautist,etc). They loved it.
