Smartphone Survey
A class survey that asks the students to find out what the most popular application is for their smartphones. The following Q&A pattern was used:
Q. What do you usually use your smartphone for?
A. I usually use my smartphone for checking the weather/to check the weather.
Each time a student states a preferred use for their phone, a tick is placed in the appropriate box. At the end of the survey, the students add up the number of ticks. At the end, I usually ask the students to call out the most popular applications on their sheets and present the final survey results on the board.
This worksheet was developed to be used with a group of Japanese learners, where the majority have smartphones. However, it could be adapted by changing the main topic, for example: computer, television, library, etc. This survey could also be used to practice the use of comparisons and superlatives.
