Proverbs I. (Part 1/2) Warm-up: Finish the Proverbs Your Way
Download all my worksheets free at my website, http://iSLCollective.com, a worksheet-sharing site for ESL, DAF (German), ELE (Spanish) and FLE (French) language teachers ............. First of all, this task is great practice for meaningful sentence formation and learning some nice structures (e.g. "It´s no use+ING," "it´s not too late to+INF," "It takes ... to+INF"). Secondly, the idea here is that before teaching proverbs, I try to get students interested in them by allowing them to play around with the sentence beginnings. Tell them to create their very own wise sayings from the prompts in a freestyle way. It´s a good idea to encourage them to create funny ones, too. Having fun will increase their motivation even more. By letting Ss make up their own proverbs, they´ll be in a much more open state of mind to receive the "real" proverbs, because of the fun they had in the first game. Bless up, Kisdobos from Budapest :)
