Mini Book 13: Black Sands in colour and greyscale
Another short story which I wrote in 2005. This story uses only single letter sounds apart from the word the, so early readers and dyslexics should have little difficulty in reading it. For reading comprehension interact with the children like this: What is the name of the holiday resort? What color is the sand? What is a lad/lass? What are the men wearing? You can intersperse such questions with personal ones like, Where is your favourite beach? Do you like picnics? Have you slept on sand? Etc. I have never used these with 4 year-olds but I have with adults, they love them.
