English Icons - get your sts to explore!!!
Have you ever had a group of sts who could do so much, but were too lazy to do anything about it and just wanted everything done for them, without even opening a dictionary? I had them last year, at the FCE preparatory course, and I decided Iīd had enough. So I devised this project for them to explore, look for info alone, in pairs, in groups. Some complained, some didnīt, but in the end, we all enjoyed it and learned a lot from each other. Since the FCE is an exam taken at the British Council, I wanted my sts to expand their basic cultural knowledge about GB. It worked - I set the standards/tasks (too) high, and we ended up with some great results. Try it!
