En bloc in a book. A collaborative and alternative book report. Portfolio. (fully editable)
A few months ago, my students had to choose their personal top 3 from a booklist I spent a lot of time on setting up (this list can also be found in my uploads and includes both classics and contemporary novels with blurbs). From this outcome I was able to make readersī groups (from mixed classes, depending on the book they picked). As one team they now have 3 months to work together on a portfolio that proves they are studying English with the book as source. Itīs a huge assignment that involves all aspects of English (vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening (when discussing in groups), writing and of course: reading). Nearly all separate tasks are alternative and some are also cross-curricular (involving history, geography, ICT and even mathematics). There is space for peer and self-evaluation. I am expecting some amazing gems in May. This is the first time I work like this, so Iīm just as curious as some of you. I did work with individual portfolios in the past, but then it was not based on a book but simply working on language all year through. I hope you too find this a very useful task. It is a word-document so fully editable.
