ADVANCED BUSINESS ENGLISH - GETTING THE INTERVIEW - PART 1 OF 2 (RESUME WRITING)
Latest installment in my Business English series --
This lesson uses sourced material (credit given within the document) to facilitate discussion on what makes an effective resume for use in an international environment. I teach in China, so this worded around my current environment. HOWEVER! This is *easily* adapted for any country.
This provides sample resumes for pairs/groups of students to review, discuss, and decide on what is good/bad about each. Then gives feedback from the source material with explanation. The next activity invites pairs/groups of students to improve the resumes based on the feedback material.
The homework assignment is optional, obviously, but can also be used in an extended class period of, say, two hours. (All of these business lessons are generally designed for a single one hour class period.) I hope you find this useful!
(I will wrap up this series soon. The next unit will be about writing effective cover letters, and the final unit will be about preparing for specific interviews. Stay tuned!)
