Loy Krathong Festival, Thailand
I just made up this worksheet this morning for a substitute teaching class with grade 3 on Monday, which coincides with Novemberīs full moon here in Thailand. I modified the language to make it suitable for the level of the students in our school. Most of them are already familiar with this festival but donīt know the vocabulary associated with the festival.
I think the reading is also suitable for students in other countries. Rather than simply making it a bland reading comprehension exercise, I made up a crossword puzzle which gets the students to closely read the words in the text and hopefully learn a few of the new words. They like wordsearches, but wordsearches tend to lack the skill of analysing questions to find a particular word, so I think crosswords are more beneficial.
Hope it will be useful to someone else out there.
Regards,
Scott
