USA children prosecuted as adults
A text I found on the internet (I canīt remember where) and adapted to fir my police students. They read the text, then translate some of the words. You can adapt the translation part so your students donīt have to translate to Danish ;)
When we have gone through the vocabulary, I ask my students to discuss:
- Is it OK to prosecute children/youths as adults? Why/why not)
- Does the fact that George was a police officer change anything? If yes, in which ways?
- Can Charlie grow up to lead a "normal" life? How/why/why not?
My students are police officers, I donīt want them to know before reading the text that George was an officer, which is why I havenīt put the questions on the document.
There are so many other great questions to ask to start a debate, either in small groups or the whole class together.
