Let´s Draw a Robot - shape, color, and number review
This activity is designed for young learners or special education students, and is a shape, color, and number review.
There are no instructions on the activity sheet itself, as the students need to listen to the teacher and follow the instructions.
Steps:
1) Explain to the class that everyone is going to draw a robot, but that they need to listen for information and complete the information on their worksheet before they can draw it.
2) Tell them the shape (e.g. ‘Find the rectangle.);
3) Next, they have to color the shape as they are told (e.g. ‘The rectangle is blue.);
4) Then the students are told how many of each shape they can use (e.g. ‘There are 3 blue rectangles); and
5) Finally, the students are told to draw their robot. (e.g. ‘Draw your robot! Please remember you can only use the number and color of shapes that you have on your worksheet.).
When I do this activity I often use color and number cards and have the children draw a card to determine the relevant information. I also use a large piece of paper which I draw the template on. I use this template to complete the table at the same time as the students usually verifying with them that I’m using the correct number and color with the correct shape. I can also draw a robot at the same time as the students, which they enjoy too!
