Making requests, offering help, asking permission
Nice activity to practise "making requests"; "offering help" and "asking permission".
1)Teacher divides the class into two groups. Students from group A get the cards with the pictures. Students from group B gets the cards with the sentences. They walk around the class, sts A say the situation, sts B have to find their pairs.
For example:
A: I can’t buy new clothes / B: Can I give you some water? (doesn’t match, so he has to find the correct partner)
A: I can’t buy new clothes / B: Can I lend you some clothes? (sentence and situation match, sts sit down)
2)Students get the cards with the pictures; they have to create a request.
For example:
I can’t buy new clothes. – Can I borrow some clothes? / Can you lend me some clothes?
3)Students get the cards with the sentences; they have to create a dialogue.
For example:
- Can I lend you some clothes?
- Why?
- Because your clothes are very dirty.
4)Class is split into two groups. Group A gets the cards with pictures. They say the situation and the other group had to create the request.
For example:
Group A: - I can’t buy new clothes
Group B: - Can you lend me some money to buy clothes?
